Get closer to users with Local Zones - Amazon Web Services (AWS) Tutorial
From the course: AWS Essential Training for Developers
Get closer to users with Local Zones
- [Instructor] Information travels really fast through the internet, as fast as light can travel through glass fibers in fact. Picking a region near most of your users is usually fast enough for most applications, but sometimes there are those applications like in video games or streaming live video where you need to shave off those extra milliseconds and get even closer to your users. AWS has local zones, which are extensions of the AWS regions that put a set of servers even closer to a set of users. Local zones are labeled as the region name such as US East One, followed by the physical location of the hardware such as DFW1A to indicate that these physical servers are located within Dallas, Texas. For our demo, it'll be fast enough to use US East one without using a local zone. So let's create your first server in the cloud so you can take this thing for a spin.
