- [Instructor] In this video, we are going to be talking about Azure VMware solution identity concepts. If you were running an on-premises VMware lab, the administrator would have access to the vCenter Server [email protected] account. It would even have access to the ESXi root account. However, if you're running Azure VMware Solution, administrator doesn't have access to administrator accounts or even the ESXi root account, and the reason for that should be obvious. Since Microsoft is responsible for managing the lifecycle, all of the underlying infrastructure, they cannot let you do certain things like going and changing configuration files associated with clusters, hosts, data stores, distributed virtual switches. Azure VMware Solution supports the use of custom roles and we'll talk about that in a second. You have access to something called a built-in role called "cloudadmin".
