Body language cues lost in virtual meetings

- Virtual meetings are here to stay. They enable talented peers to work together, regardless of location, and organizations to mine that collective wisdom. But the virtual workplace comes with its own challenges. It's more difficult to get virtual teams to bond and easier for misunderstandings to escalate. Trust is the foundation for any successful enterprise. It's the glue that builds commitment and engagement. With in-person teams, trust grows out of mutual work experiences and personal interactions, usually extended over time. Virtual teams don't share this context. In addition, there's a very real syndrome called 'Zoom fatigue,' where the effort of trying to maintain interpersonal connection in a simulated environment takes its toll.
