Distribution and logistics careers

- Most supply chains involve moving and storing physical products. A lot of them, and that's what logistics is all about. Retailers and manufacturers depend on logistics to make sure that they have the right products in the right place at the right time. Most companies have employees that handle some of their logistics, but they also rely on other companies called third party logistics providers or 3PLs. So there are logistics jobs inside of the manufacturers and retailers, and there are jobs with the 3PLs who support them. Let's start with the folks who are closest to the physical products, the associates who work in warehousing, distribution, and transportation. This is also called material handling. People don't usually need to have a lot of education for these jobs, but they might need specialized training and licenses.
