Do I have to be fake?

- Do you have to fake leadership presence when you're fearful or insecure? Let me answer with an example. During the dark days of World War II, US President Franklin Roosevelt, FDR, as he was known, met with Orson Welles. Welles was the biggest star in Hollywood. He directed and performed the leading role in "Citizen Kane," rated as one of the greatest movies of all time. At that point, the US military severely lacked resources and readiness. Hitler and the Nazis were dominant. FDR tried to raise the confidence of allies around the world. In a famous speech, he said, "We have nothing to fear but fear itself." But FDR, better than anyone, knew how vulnerable the US and the Allies were. When he met with Welles, he said, "You and I are the two greatest actors in the world." What did he really mean by that? It points to the most common concern from leaders I help to strengthen their presence. Do I have to be fake?…
