Shift from off-ramp emotions to on-ramp emotions

- Emotions can propel us to do great things, or things we'll greatly regret. Strong-presence leaders steer their emotions to be helpful instead of harmful. Analogy: When you lose your poise, it's like you're driving free and clear on the highway, then you take the wrong off-ramp by mistake. The highway is a you at your best emotional state. It's how you feel when you make progress on your purpose. You're energized, motivated, enthused, engaged, you feel great. But we all have times when our composure collapses, we lose confidence or get frantic or want to give up. That's the off-ramp. Wrong turn. When that happens, here's what to do. First step, identify which off-ramp you took. When you lose your poise, what's the dominant emotion you feel? Examples: I feel frustrated, angry, insecure, fearful, ashamed.
