- Strong presence leaders project themselves with purpose-driven clarity, both verbally and non-verbally. An example is Charlotte Beers, former CEO of Ogilvy & Mather, a prominent advertising firm, who carried herself with both force and grace. She said this, "Speaking passionately, from the very center of who you are, is compelling, forceful, persuasive: that's what leadership sounds like." I want you to do your version of that. Here are some ways you can strengthen your presence in what you do, what you say, and how you say it. Rate yourself on each one and ask others you trust for feedback. Number one, posture. Don't slouch or be rigid. Carry your body like all the bones are in exactly the right place. Two, movement and gestures. Move with purpose. Use gestures in sync with your points. Be smooth and fluid in your motion, not stiff or jerky. Three, facial expressions. Show emotions that convey your intent.…
