Capturing a panoramic
(gentle piano music) - So now I've taken a step back from the city, and now I've got this amazing panoramic view. And I can work on a lot wider scale, and get that real width of the panorama onto the sketchpad. It's going to give us a great feel of the city and work in contrast to the street scenes, when you're right within the urban landscape. I'm starting with the Duomo as my focus, and I've positioned it about two-thirds over from the left hand side of the sketchpad and a little bit down from the top. And this just helps just to give me a nice balanced composition. Often when you're drawing panoramics the first object that you're drawing, you've got to purposely draw it smaller than you think it's going to be, just to make sure that you get everything fitting onto the page. Once I've got the main focus, I can then indicate the distant mountains that frame behind the Duomo, and this just helps to frame it in the back of the drawing, and then I'm going to be looking at how I can…
