- [Fulya] The last few years have been quite devastating and many changes are taking place in the way we work, live and conduct business. Work life balance, importance of health and wellness, supply chain issues and life-threatening climate events are all changing priorities, which can seem to be turning the world around us upside down. In this recent downturn of events, one positive development have been that sustainability, climate change and social issues rose to the top of almost every organization's agenda. I've never seen so many sustainability jobs being posted every day. And yet there is a quite limited talent pool. Hi, I'm Fulya Kocak, a veteran sustainability professional in construction and real estate sectors for two decades. I'm glad that you've joined me today to understand what green jobs and sustainability careers are all about and what skills you need to learn of these jobs. In this course I will cover the demand for green jobs. What these jobs look like today and where they're going from here, I will then dive into the necessary skill sets to get a green job or to upgrade your existing career into its more advanced greener version. I will provide tips and insights based on my career in sustainability. As it has journeys of young professionals I've been mentoring that transformed into effective sustainability leaders. Please be ready to answer a bunch of questions I'll ask you in the coming videos. To set you up for success, I've prepared a document I call a green journal with prompts including the questions you'll hear from me throughout the course. You can use these in your green job journey. These are prompts to recognize your strengths and areas for improvement, planning your next steps and committing to a timeline.
