- Because project management is such a broad field, you might wonder how to get started and become successful. Having a niche is a great way to get started because you can build on what you're passionate about, good at and already experienced in. Now within the project management universe, you can specialize in several ways. First, although project management is industry independent, you can focus on a particular industry. For example, if you've been working in the construction industry it might be easier for you to start there.
