- A particularly effective way to market yourself is to work with organizations or individuals that are already catered to the audience you want to reach. Say you're focusing on the construction industry. You might contact construction management associations and offer to teach classes or present at their monthly meetings. Or, you might volunteer to help put on those monthly meetings or annual conferences. As a volunteer at these events, you'll meet attendees in your target audience and you will also make valuable networking contact with your fellow volunteers who may hear about an opportunity for you. Alternatively, you can contact entrepreneurs like yourself to explore collaborating. For example, you might offer complimentary services or help each of them on a project that's too big for the resources they have.
