- They say that the picture is worth a thousand words. The same is true in Lean Six Sigma. Yes, it is much easier if you're able to visualize what you're trying to measure, analyze, and improve. So, now that you know your project scope and process boundaries, a picture that provides a common and cohesive understanding of the process, will be helpful. A process map is a diagram that provides a visual representation of the process flow or sequence of activities or steps that take place in a process from start to finish. There are different types of process maps. A high level process map, a detailed process map, a swimlane or deployment process map, and a value stream map. But value stream maps will be covered separately in the next video. At the highest level is the high level process map. This provides a view of the process at 10,000 feet.
