- Every module in SAP has its own independent organizational structure. The organizational structure defines the relationships between different work groups and departments. Let's look at the components of a typical sales and distribution organizational structure. The sales and distribution organizational structure is made up of internal SD components and components from two other modules. For the components directly in the SD module, first, we'll look at sales organization. The sales organization or sales org is the highest level in the structure and are responsible for all sales activities. Reporting on all sales activities is done at this level. Next is the distribution channel. The distribution channel is how we reach our customers with our products. Examples of distribution channels include retail, wholesale or internet sales.
