- Your brain wants to make decisions fast to avoid stress and conserve physical energy. This means that cognitive biases can inadvertently shape your perspective and not always for the better. Let's take a look at five of the most common cognitive biases that pop up when making tough career decisions so you can recognize and prevent them. First is confirmation bias or the tendency to look for information that supports your existing beliefs and to ignore the rest.
