Establish an open-door policy upfront

- As managers, we have all heard the phrase having an open door policy, and usually are encouraged to have one. But what does that really entail? An open door communication policy is where the manager, director, or supervisor keeps the office door open, literally and figuratively. The main purpose is to encourage feedback and discussion regarding employee and offer suggestions about services or products the organization delivers. A successful open door policy provides guidelines to enable senior management to resolve problems. However, the employee must address the concern with the immediate supervisor or manager. The manager plays a big part in setting the stage to openly welcome and accept everyone to the team. The manager can be the glue that holds the team together by adhering to established organization and human resource policies.
