- When you watch a sports game on TV, do you admire how responsive the team is to the coach's signal to huddle? To get the best performance out of any team a manager should know and understand how to get the team excited to work together to achieve success. The manager should plan team building discussions that examine how roles, responsibilities, previous experiences, skills, et cetera, affect performance and outcomes. Establish a safe place to ensure members are being respected. Teams can enjoy getting together, interacting easily and good natured kidding and laughter. Listening is the single most effective factor that distinguishes effective teams from ineffective teams. The ability to really listen is an important skill for any team member to have.
