- If only it was as simple as just asking for the people you want and then you get them. In reality, I think the way the process works is that you make your ideal plan using all the ideal people and other resources that you want. And at least the plan is internally consistent by which I mean, you can do all the tasks you want to, providing you get the resources you're expecting. All the resource profiles for the various projects interlock perfectly, and you can do it all, on time, to budget, without resource problems. You then go and ask for the resources. And it turns out that you can only get 80% of the quantity you needed, and of that reduced quantity, it's only 80% of the quality you wanted. Some of the people aren't the ones you ideally would have chosen, and you can't have all of them at the times you wanted, some of them are only available later than ideal. So that's another factor messing up your plan. So you go…
