Creating your first cross-functional project in Asana

- [Presenter] Today, let's build a cross-functional project from scratch and how Asana makes it really easy to do this. First, let's select the right project template. So let's navigate to the Create on the left. Click into Project, Use a template. And since we're looking to create a cross-functional project, let's actually use the Cross-functional Project Plan. Click into Use template. Let's rename this to Marketing Plan for Product Launch. Make sure it's to the appropriate team. Check the privacy settings, I want it for my team only, and then Create project. Great, now this is done. Now here's why this template is ideal for us. First, it breaks work down into intuitive sections like planning and milestones and tasks with due dates to make it clear what work needs to happen and when. Additionally, you can categorize work by things like priority and task progress status to keep your team aligned and make sure that work gets done. Next, let's tailor this template. We can customize pretty much any sections and columns we see fit to our project's needs, such as our task, section, priority, et cetera. For example, what I want to do is move the Comms Plan section right above Next steps, and then you can see that lock into place. And then I'm also going to add a new section called Resources. And then for this, I like to add a emoji to signify this as resources and then pin it all the way to the top. Now I know change management is another key aspect of this project, so I'm going to create a new section called Change Management. Change Management. And then nest it right under the Comms Plan. Perfect. And then additionally, I'm going to add a couple of tasks. The first one, Create a pilot program, click Enter, Identify change Champions, and then lastly, Get executive sponsor sign off. Awesome. We now have tweaked our project plan using a handy template and added key sections and tasks. So here's a question for you. What's a key component you'd like to create a unique section for in your current project of yours, and what key tasks would you add? Next, I'll share how you can edit and adjust specific fields in the next video. See you soon.
