- One of the most popular superheroes, Spider-Man, was given great advice early on, with great power comes great responsibility. As a fundraiser, you also have a great responsibility. But instead of saving the day, you are responsible for being a shining example of ethical behavior to your donors. Ethics is a systematic effort to judge human behavior as right or wrong. This involves three basic guidelines, a universal code, truthfulness, and personal responsibility. First, the universal code suggests a shared set of rules that we all play by. Think of the game of chess. You and your opponent are both aware of how the pieces can move. This universal code makes the game more predictable than if each player had their own set of rules.
