- I want you to think back to the last group project you worked on in school, how did you pick your partners? Did you pick someone because they were your friend, or smart, or creative? Choosing a partner can be the start of a great relationship. And today's donors want to partner with your nonprofit to advance the cause. I want to share with you how focusing your messaging on the problem your nonprofit is solving can make a big difference in increasing donor participation. The traditional approach to fundraising often focuses more on the operational needs and less on the organization's mission. Don't get me wrong, all nonprofits need funds to operate to keep the lights on and to pay the staff. But true partnership is mutually beneficial.
