- The health care industry is an interesting one when it comes to bloodborne pathogens and exposure control. When I was running the OSHA Training Institute Education Center at Arizona State University, I really started to dig into the healthcare industry and talk to people in the university's healthcare program as well as people working in the healthcare industry in general. We also put together a full day course on this topic specifically for healthcare workers. Now, this surprised me a little bit because I assume that healthcare workers would already be well-trained on this topic, but I discovered that the typical training delivered to healthcare workers really focused on protecting patients and there was less emphasis on protecting the healthcare workers themselves.
