Demo: Create a custom database software image

(logo humming) - [Eddie] Hello and welcome. I'm Eddie Ambler. In this demo, we will go through creating a custom database software image for DBCS in the console. Open the navigation menu. Click on Oracle Database. Then, click on Oracle Base Database VM. Along the left rail, underneath Resources, click on Database Software Images. Then let's click on Create Database Software Image. In the display name field, provide a display name for your image. For the demo, let's use my 19.14 DBImage for the image name. The compartment field defaults to your current compartment. Validate the compartment shown is where you want your database custom software image to be accessible from. For the shape, you can select from virtual machine and bare metal shapes or the Exadata shape. For our demo, we'll be selecting to create an image for a virtual machine. Now that we have named our image and defined where it will reside, let's configure the database software image. We start by choosing the database version for your image. For this demo, we'll select 19c as the database version for our image. We will then choose a patch set update or a proactive bundle patch or release update that we will associate with our image. For our demo, we will select 19.14 as the patch set update, to go along with our image. The next field allows us to enter one-off patch numbers that can also be added as part of our image. For the demo, we will be leaving this blank. You can also build out your image by uploading an Oracle Home Inventory file from an existing Oracle database. This step is optional and we will leave this blank for our demo. Now that we have made our selections for configuring our software image, let's look at what is available under Advanced Options. Under Advanced Options, you can optionally apply tags to help you organize and track your resources. If you're not sure if you should apply tags, then skip this option. You can apply tags later. Click Create Database Software Images. While the create database software image process is running, the state of the database software image is provisioning. You can click on Work Requests in the left rail to monitor the progress of your request to create the database software image. When the database software image creation process completes, the state of the database software image and the work request changes from IN PROGRESS to SUCCEEDED. Congratulations on accomplishing the mission to create your custom database software image.
