Welcome to Oracle University's module on Analyzing and Choosing Your Migration Strategy. I'm your host, Nicholas. Let's get started. After completing this lesson, you should be able to discover your source environment, analyze and compare your source and target environments and decide on migration strategy. The five migration steps shown in this slide are discussed in detail in the slides that follow. One: Discovery Two: Analysis Three: Planning Four: Migration Five: Validation. The discovery phase consists of collecting source database information such as database version, database size, operating system and DNS of the database, database links, database character set, data types used in the source database, business dependency. Applications may have monthly or quarterly releases and the migration must be completed before that. In such cases, you must select the faster approach for migration.
