Welcome friends to the Oracle University module on Implement Data Integration Mapping for Data Quality Checks as Part of Data Flow. I'm your host, Desiree, and let's get started. In this module, I'm going to show you why data quality is important, followed by when and how to enforce data quality, and finally, how to review erroneous records. Companies often neglect monitoring and enforcing the overall quality of the data processed by the integration processes. There are two reasons for this. First is, the development of data cleansing operations may be deemed too expensive. Next is, the information system teams or IS teams often consider that the information residing in certain applications must closely conform to the defined business rules. This leads to the belief that any risk of incorrect data is minimal. Data quality concerns become even more critical when new applications are integrated in the information system.
