Welcome to Oracle University's lesson: Migrating Oracle Databases to OCI. I'm your host, Nicholas. Let's get started. In this lesson, I'm going to show you migrating by creating a standalone backup in OCI object storage. Migrating by using a local backup upload to OCI object storage, followed by planning for migration and migration methods. This is migrating an on-premise database to the Oracle Cloud infrastructure by creating a backup in the cloud. So Oracle provides a Python script to create a backup on your on-premise DB. In OCI object structure, this script will create an entry for the newly created backup in the OCI console. Then, well, you can use the cloud tooling, so you can use the OCI console, or you could use the OCI command line interface to provision a new DB system based on this backup.
