- Many years ago a business leader asked me what's the best interview question he should ask candidates. I said the only way I'll give you the question is if you answer it too. He agreed. So let me try the same technique with you. I call the question the most significant accomplishment question. Here's how it goes. Think about the best work you've ever done, a major project, or some big task. Something you'd consider a career defining event. Now can you tell me all about it. Now whether or not I tell the person I'll be asking this question ahead of time, most people still give just a short one to two minute overview of some major accomplishment. But the question itself is just a setup for what follows. But before I get into that, what folLows, I'd like you to think about an accomplishment you'd consider a career defining event.
