Connecting to PDF files
- [Instructor] The term PDF is an acronym for Portable Document Format. We often see these file formats for more formal and published reports. While they're easier for us as humans to read, they're also harder for computers to read because of the very spacing and formatting that make it easier for us to read it in the first place. When we open a PDF file for Santa Barbara Weather in 2023, we see that unlike Excel, the data tables aren't continuous, and instead span across many pages within the report. In Power Query, let's choose the PDF data connector to point to the data sources folder storing our PDF file. Let's then connect to the first table that we see listed in our navigator window. Like connecting to an Excel file, this drills into the selected table. Now this consolidates the table together, which we see when we scroll down and look at the months involved.
