Merging and appending data
- [Instructor] Now let's explore two more functionalities for combining two tables into one table. The first is merging, which is where we take an existing table and combine it with another along a common key that they share in a horizontal combination. We can see how these tables combine using a left join along the key field. This adds the related category fields to the combined data table. Appending data, on the other hand, involves matching up the matching column names vertically, like we're stacking them on top of one another. We see how this combines them together in a table with the same amount of columns, but more rows because we're stacking the rows on top of one another. Let's first explore merging options in Power BI. We'll merge the METAR API, which contains the hourly weather data measurements with the date times states table we created with an R script.
