- [Instructor] In the last few years, we've seen a surge in data volume and speed, as well as an increased demand to understand and analyze trends from this data. Power BI allows us to scale up to this demand by creating models and reports that cater to business users and decision-makers. But before we get started with Power BI itself, let's talk about one of the most important functions built into Power BI, Power Query. Using Power Query enables us to connect to and transform data before we load it into our Power BI models. Power Query Editor formulas share similarities with their Excel counterparts, so you should already be familiar with many of these commands, but there are a few key differences that are important to know. First, Excel formulas are not case sensitive, while Power Query formulas are. Next, Excel counts from an index of one, while Power Query uses an index of zero.
