(bright music) - Data is everywhere, so data isn't the problem. Getting information out of your data is the problem. Big data gives you access to profound, meaningful information and great possibilities to get totally lost. So, what exactly is big data? Adopted from Oracle's definition, "Big data is larger, more complex data sets, especially from new data sources that can be used to address business problems you wouldn't have been able to tackle before." The benefits of properly managing big data are vast, from gaining important information for product development and predictive equipment maintenance, to getting indications of fraudulent behavior and spearheading operational efficiencies. The issues are substantial, however, including effectively storing and managing the volumes of data that are available, sorting through and filtering that data to ensure what is analyzed is relevant.
