That's what prominence or focus is. It's a way to highlight certain elements in our speech, so they stand out from others. This is by far the single most important part of delivery for non-native speakers. Now, I was walking around the university where I'm a professor and I saw a student who was highlighting in yellow everything on both sides of her textbook, right?
