- [Instructor] Many IoT devices can eavesdrop and activate autonomously. In this segment, we'll learn how governments are investigating security requirements to address the huge gap in IoT Security. IoT devices have built-in functions, such as a microphone, a camera, and night vision, and are the eyes and ears of the world. Through controllers and cloud processing, we now give these tiny devices the ability to think and act on their own. Many devices, once booted, immediately phone home without any prompts from the user, and then eavesdrop and collect data. And they may not turn off when prompted. Many times, consumers are unaware of this behavior. This could happen by design or there could be a malicious actor remotely controlling the device.
