In this segment, we'll learn some key considerations in selecting and securing your IoT device to decrease the risk of exposing personal information. IoT devices are designed to help improve our way of life. However, researchers have confirmed that many devices are inherently insecure and are vulnerable to attacks. For example, a large percentage of IoT devices transmit on encrypted data. Here is a seemingly innocent interaction between two people. However, the text is unencrypted and provides the address and that the door is unlocked. Attackers can gather information sent in plain text and then use the information to gain access to networks, homes, or systems.
