- [Instructor] In the 30 plus years since information technology began, its dramatic rise, standards, regulations and guidelines such as PCI DSS and HIPAA have reduced the amount of data exposure. In this segment, we'll outline how regulations can provide specific guidelines on various forms of IoT privacy and security. With the rapid development of the Internet of things and all the data devices generate, we enter a new paradigm. Several agencies and governing bodies are already providing specific recommendations on privacy and security. Let's talk about a few examples. In the US, the Developing Innovation and Growing the Internet of Things or DIGIT Act helps provide structure and guidance to ensure that IoT systems are protected from unauthorized access and data theft.
