Where do you fit in the world of healthcare?

- When you first start selling into healthcare, the web of doctors, insurance companies, patients, and suppliers can seem kind of confusing. So where do you start? Let's take a few minutes and break it down so that you understand the role that each of these play. First, let's start with the patient. This is the easy one. Patients can be anyone from a kid who broke their arm to a woman having a baby, to an older person in an assisted living home. The patient is the person who's receiving some type of medical care. Now they receive this care from a provider. Providers are places like hospitals, doctor's offices, assisted living homes, rehabs, and the people who work there. They provide the care to the patient, and in return the patient pays for the care. But now sometimes a payer is put into that loop, more often than not, in fact. The payer is the one who pays the provider on behalf of the patient. Payers are insurance companies, Medicare, Medicaid. The amount of money the payer pays…
