- To understand the technical product life cycle, let's start by answering this question; what are the different stages of the product development life cycle and what is your job as a technical product manager throughout them? First off, the fun part, idea generation. Steve Jobs said, a lot of times, people don't know what they want until you show it to them. And that's just it. You need to be ahead of your time and identify the pain points of your users. Find gaps in the market and strategically create roadmaps with impactful solutions. You can do this by listening to the users, brainstorming with other team members and by reviewing competition. Your ideas as a technical product manager could be worth a billion dollars, but they can also just be improvements of existing products, or they can be focusing on a particular metric, like growth, research.
