- Changing careers means taking a leap of faith, but taking that leap won't feel quite as daunting if you've already spoken with someone who is in that career. In this lesson, I'll show you how you can use AI to prepare for having an effective informational interview. Informational interviews are networking conversations you have with someone in the field you are thinking of exploring. They're guided by your curiosity and interests and let you get a feel for the potential new career. First, identify the right industry contact for an informational interview. This may be someone you follow on LinkedIn or a past connection from a previous education or employer. Second, send an introductory email. I've found the most success sending these types of emails early in the week, on a Monday or Tuesday, about 15 minutes before the workday begins. This timing increases the likelihood of a response.
