- [Instructor] Let's talk about how to implement IP address scheme for virtual machine. What that really means is that when we have virtual machine, we can assign IP addresses when we create the machine or we can have a mechanism so that IP address gets assigned. So we will take a look at that. As we talk about assigning IP addresses, one of the very first thing to understand is the network interface for virtual machine. Network interface, or VM NIC, is the interconnection between the virtual machine and the virtual network. Each virtual machine has to have one network interface to be connected to the VNet that it is associated with. Keep in mind that the virtual machine can have multiple NICs or multiple network interface. Multiple NICs can also exist when the virtual machine is part of a availability set.
