🌟 I would like to share the product of a long research journey that began with my scientific initiation and evolved into articles discussing various aspects of the relationship between the city and the female gender. These dysfunctions led to my final course project, defended in 2022.
After studying mobility, I realized the need to approach this issue from a gender perspective. With the help of my advisors, I explored gender and urban spaces, focusing on how women's walking experiences are influenced by the patriarchal structures of cities. This deep dive resulted in my thesis, “WALKING IN THE PATRIARCHAL CITY: A MANUAL FOR FEMINIST CITIES.”
My work examines how historically patriarchal societies shape urban designs and impact women’s experiences in current cities. This project aims to understand the relationship between urban spaces and women’s mobility, resulting in a manual for developing urban planning guidelines that promote gender equity.
I believe this work is a significant step toward creating fairer and more inclusive cities. I invite everyone to explore the complete manual and envision a future with fairer and freer cities for women. 🌈 ♀

'Desafios para o enfrentamento da invisibilidade do trabalho de cuidado realizado pela mulher no Brasil.'
'Challenges confronting the invisibility of care work carried out by women in Brazil'.
This was the theme of the Enem (equivalent to A level in the UK) essay this year in Brazil.
It is an interesting and current topic. In the 21st century, women still have to choose between motherhood or professional success because most of the time, the options don't fit together. Not to mention the prejudice and ageism that women face when trying to return to the job market after years of raising
and supporting their families. You first hear that you have gaps in your CV when it should be the opposite: the job is being a mother, taking care of the home, and constantly prioritising your family'success. It is a skilful job.

Did you know that women hold just over 20% of board seats globally, with even fewer occupying chair or CEO positions?
Joining a board can help women excel in their careers and broaden their professional network.
Organisations like WomanForward.org and Ejecon are actively empowering women to ascend to leadership positions to promote gender equality and to take positions on executive boards.
HBR put together a fantastic podcast illustrating how to join a board, have a listen here➡️ https://lnkd.in/dGpGnqX6

International Women's Day is a pivotal occasion dedicated to honoring the significant strides made towards gender equality, while also spotlighting the persistent challenges and inspiring the collective action needed for a more equitable future.
It is a day
> To Celebrate of Progress and Achievements, like equal Voting Rights, Representation in Leadership (e.g., first President of the European Commission, first President of the European Central Bank, outstanding women leading in science, business, arts), Educational Attainment (European women have surpassed men in higher education attainment rates, showcasing the breaking of traditional barriers in education).
> To Reflect on Existing Gaps, namely Gender Pay Gap (despite progress, the EU faces a gender pay gap, with women earning on average 14 % less than men), Underrepresentation in STEM (women remain underrepresented in STEM fields in Europe, holding only around 33% of STEM degrees), Violence and Discrimination (European women still face significant levels of violence and discrimination, with 1 in 3 women experiencing physical or sexual violence).
> To Inspire and Call to (Concrete) Action at all levels of society: Public Policies (measures that promote equivalent conditions and support for women to be able to choose to have a professional career, in coexistence with their role as family anchor and care takers; strengthening laws and security systems to protect women from violence), Corporate Initiatives (companies are increasingly adopting gender quotas for board positions to ensure female representation; at SIBS we pride ourselves on the equality of representation of men and women in the company, the percentage is about 50% women), Personal Impact.
International Women's Day stands as the celebration of diversity, encompassing not only gender but also race, religion, and culture. As we acknowledge the progress made, we must also embrace our active role in fostering an inclusive society that values and champions diversity in all its forms. Together, we can all work towards a future where everyone has the opportunity to thrive, free from discrimination and inequality, building a better world.

In the Brazilian judiciary system, women make up only 38% of judges. In fact, the higher the career level, the lower the rate of female participation: women make up only 25.7% of the highest positions in the system.
Our program partners at Plataforma JUSTA are addressing this issue by implementing essential institutional changes to dismantle barriers that prevent women from thriving in these spaces. They also seek to create conditions for women to overcome them collectively, without the onus of doing it alone.the personal cost.
A key component of their initiative is developing a program for women leaders in legal careers, enabling them to form political groups capable of occupying positions of power in the next decade.
Watch Luciana Zaffalon explain more in the #SpotlightSeries video below and learn how Justa and their partners, Fórum Justiça and Themis - Gênero, Justiça e Direitos Humanos, are driving a collective project to ensure a more democratic and inclusive justice system in Brazil. #GenderEquality#JusticeReformhttps://www.justa.org.br/

2023 Theme: Fulfilling the Promises of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights for Older Persons: Across Generations
Seventy-five years ago, the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration on Human Rights, a monumental document in the history of human rights.
Written by representatives from around the world with different legal, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds, it is the first document articulating the fundamental human rights that are meant to be universally protected.
In recognition of this milestone, and looking to a future that delivers on the promise to ensure that all persons, including all older persons, fully enjoy their human rights and fundamental freedoms, the 33rd commemoration of the United Nations International Day of Older Persons will focus on the theme of “Fulfilling the Promises of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights for Older Persons: Across Generations”.
Today’s event will put a spotlight on the specificity of older persons around the world, for the enjoyment of their rights and in addressing violations, and how the strengthening of solidarity through equity and reciprocity between generations offers sustainable solutions to deliver on the promise of the Sustainable Development Goals.
The number of people aged 65 years or older worldwide is projected to more than double, rising from 761 million in 2021 to 1.6 billion in 2050. The number of people aged 80 years or older is growing even faster.
Globally, babies born in 2022 are expected to live 71.7 years on average, 25 years longer than those born in 1950.
Population ageing is an irreversible global trend. In 2021, 1 in 10 people worldwide were aged 65 or above. In 2050, this age group is projected to account for 1 in 6 people globally.
Women tend to live longer than men and thus comprise the majority of older persons. In 1950, women could expect to live almost four years more than men globally. In 2021, the difference between the two had increased to more than five years.
The number of individuals categorized as older working-age (55 to 64 years) is projected to surge from 723 million in 2021 to 1,075 million in 2050, and eventually to 1,218 million by 2100.

🌈 As we celebrate Pride Month, it's crucial to recognize the spectrum of family compositions that enrich our society, many of which are composed of LGBTQI+ members. In my recent column for El Nuevo Día, one of our main local newspapers, I delve into the importance of embracing all forms and compositions of the family nucleus. I also briefly highlight the two main objectives of 'Coalición de Familias Inclusivas' (Coalition of Inclusive Families), which we organized just a few weeks ago to: (a) educate potential parents on the different options for creating a family (i.e. adoption); and (b) facilitate support groups for parent figures on the journey of nurturing and raising kids. #DiversityAndInclusion#Parenting#PrideMonth#Pride#LGBThttps://lnkd.in/eVKcHfDN
