Working through partners or managing multiple projects often presents a complex challenge in effectively communicating your impact. Kudos to U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission's Small Business Advocacy team on its 2023 Annual Report, which provides a number of thoughtful insights and policy recommendations to help address challenges small businesses face in accessing capital, particularly among women, diverse, and rural populations. These recommendations include: ▶ Expanding the accredited investor definition to include additional pathways to demonstrate financial sophistication ▶ Increasing offering limits and allowing funds to use Regulation Crowdfunding ▶ Classifying fund-of-fund investments as qualifying investments for VC funds ▶ Increasing the 100 beneficial owner limit for section 3(c)(1) funds and increasing the size and offering limits for qualifying venture capital funds ▶ Providing more tools and educational resources to help entrepreneurs navigate the capital-raising process Many of these recommendations align with capital formation efforts in Congress and could help drive bipartisan action. Carta will continue to work with our partners in the new year to advance these priorities to bolster the innovation ecosystem.
