Meeting with a leadership expert for the first time shouldn’t feel like a sales pitch. This is the kind of relationship that should feel natural. Mutual trust is non-negotiable. #LeadershipGrowth
👋 Erica Jenkins your partnership has been a game changer for us. YOU raise the bar, and this team keeps reaching higher.
For anyone wondering about the impact a fractional leader can have, my only word of caution is this: Don't settle. Dream big and find a path to work with great people. Fractional leadership can make a huge impact on your org. Skip the BS, focus on the goals, and level up. It's not about time, it's about impact. I'll take a little bit of great any day. #leadership#gratitude

I was in a QBR meeting with my team and a Fortune 250 customer this week.
A Multi-year, 7-figure contract.
Our customer said something that blew me away:
“One of the biggest reasons we went with you instead of [the competitor] was because you provided real thought leadership about HOW your platform could impact our business. The other platform was, well, it was **just a pure-tech play**”
The crazy thing is that all things were NOT equal during the buying process:
--> The competitor was lower-priced.
--> The competitor arguably had more features.
--> The competitor was *already* in use inside this customer's org.
But our team won the deal.
Not on price.
Not on features.
Not on tech-stack.
On thought leadership.
Hearing that was such a valuable reminder:
WHY > How > what
The WHY & HOW almost always have to be understood + solved before the prospect will bother caring about the "WHAT".

I help engineering leaders at SaaS startups scale their teams and fix early issues. Teams from five to 50 people are my specialty. Coaching, expert advice, and proven playbooks to support confident growth.
Someone recently asked, what I do as a fractional CTO. Here's a neat way of describing it.
✓ The type of situation you customers are in before they need an fCTO
They have a team of 3+ engineers, and they feel that something needs to work better. Software is built slowly, or with poor quality. They want to scale, but are not sure of what
✓ What do you d for customers
I look at the people, process, and tooling, and find one or two things that need to change. I work with the customer to improve those things. Repeat.
✓ What areas do you specialize in
Software engineering for web-based or mobile applications.
✓ What are the kinds of customers and industries to whom you add most value.
Saas, B2B, B2C companies based in North America, who have a remote or distributed team, with some offshore developers.
Advises Engineering Leadership (CTO | VP | Head of Engineering) on how to deliver tech strategy, accelerate delivery and demonstrate bottom line impact
Who do you choose of all the fractional CTOs out there?
I often find that CEO's are confused about how to choose between various fractional CTOs.
I thought it might be helpful if all the fractional CTOs in my network would explain in the comments :
✓ The type of situation their customers are in before they need a FCTO
✓ What they do for customers
✓ the areas that they specialise in and
✓ the kind of customers and industries to whom they'd add most value.
I'll tag a few off the top of my head:
Paul Butcher , Marc van Neerven , Itzchak Sabo , Mark van Harmelen , Adam Horner.
