Scaling your business can be a nightmare. I have been having this conversation a lot recently. Seems that I have worked with many organisations over the past few years that are really struggling with some or all of these: - Moving from being 'in control' to distributing responsibility - Knowing how and when to hire to hit investment targets - Getting the balance right between growth and sustainability - Knowing what culture you want vs. discovering the right culture for your business - Having a vision and working with the view of investors/the board There isn't a simple solution. This is why some companies take a 'trial and error' approach to scalability—often successful but always costly. Through my leadership development perspective, I have seen that leaders who start with the company when it is small HAVE TO transform significantly to continue to be the right leaders when it scales. Put simply, you can't stay 'hands-on', and you can't be 'hands-off,' so finding your own 'third way' of creating a company of responsible and engaged people is key. But what do you all say?
