https://lnkd.in/ePD7mF5U Well done by The New York Times covering the state of the Alaskan salmon market, the threats to this economic engine and the importance of disruptors like Propeller's own Circle Seafoods in facilitating quality, value and stability to salmon markets. If I had one add, I would've mentioned the climate benefits that these disruptors can also bring: less stranded diesel, less waste and fewer overall scope 3 emissions. Read up! And buy wild, fresh and sustainable. Just ask Eren Shultz Pat Glaab Charlie Campbell

The cost of desalination is still too high to be cost effective, and the need for fresh water will only grow while global population continues to increase. The real question is what affect will this have on the ecology and environment of the arctic regions - Iceberg Cowboys, a new frontier.
It is now technically possible to capture icebergs, tow them to the equator and harvest them for drinking water. But what are the ecological risks?

In Colombia 🇨🇴 #CarbonMarkets flowed +300M USD for Forests in only 5years according to official figures by ASOCARBONO Now Brasil 🇧🇷 is taking this to the next level by implementing best practices and lessons learned, having Indigenous People directly lead their projects with Ancestral Knowledge Systems (AKS) and enabling Investors evolve their portfolios with #BioEconomy #NatureIsTheBestTechnology 🪷
A recent article in The Wall Street Journal by Paulo Trevisani and Luciana Magalhaes explains how the #carbonmarket drives finance to restoring Brazil's rainforest -- which plays a critical role in limiting global warming. Companies purchase carbon credits to offset their carbon footprints, enabling organizations like re.green to revitalize vast areas of the rainforest, equivalent to the size of Hawaii's major islands. Global carbon markets, now worth an estimated $1 billion, often support sustainable native landscape regrowth, vital for combating #ClimateChange. Here's an excellent group to help you make a win win situation by conserving and saving your coral reefs, and surrounding oceans and marine life. Blue Ventures actually does free advising, so email them to see what they can do or who they can connect you to. Many thanks to the BBC for doing an article on them. That is how I found out. It is organizations like this that would be more in line with goals of saving our oceans and keeping them clean and healthy. https://lnkd.in/en_g8yMe

Wetlands, often overlooked, play a pivotal role in the global economy. On World Wetlands Day, it's crucial to recognize their economic significance. These ecosystems provide a myriad of services, contributing to both local and global economies. Firstly, wetlands act as natural water filters, purifying water resources and reducing the need for expensive water treatment facilities. This, in turn, safeguards human health and lowers healthcare costs associated with waterborne diseases. Secondly, wetlands serve as crucial habitats for diverse flora and fauna, supporting fisheries and providing breeding grounds for numerous species. The fishing industry relies heavily on these ecosystems, contributing significantly to global food security and livelihoods. Additionally, wetlands offer natural flood control and storm surge protection, reducing the economic impact of extreme weather events. Coastal wetlands, in particular, act as a buffer against hurricanes and tsunamis, safeguarding coastal communities and infrastructure. Recognizing the economic importance of wetlands is essential for sustainable development. Investing in wetland conservation and restoration not only preserves biodiversity but also ensures long-term economic resilience and well-being for communities worldwide.

Family landowners – 21 million strong - who steward the largest portion of our country’s woodlands, are on the front lines, facing the impact of climate change every day. They want to do what’s best for their land, but too often, they can't afford it. That's why yesterday's announcement from the Biden-Harris Administration is so pivotal; it acknowledges the importance of a high-integrity voluntary carbon market to scale our nation's climate solutions all while giving rural America the tools they need to care for the health and wellbeing of our forests. We need the right rules and guidelines to build a market that works for people and the planet. Let's get moving.

Changing systems to galvanize nature based solutions. Encouraging equitable, and sustainable development as well as responsible investment.
An interesting story about carbon markets, #deforestation and #reforestation in Brazil. To me the most significant sentence in the article is: “Right now, the idea is to get both humans and nature to work together.” Why does this “idea” continue to be so perilous? It’s the only way we will meet our #climate, #nature and #biodiversity goals.
