The Craftsmanship process…… some companies call it “ craftsmanship “, some call it “aspect”, some call it “design quality “ and there are a myriad of other names as well. Whatever you call it, your qualifying the quality of your automotive parts by reviewing them at several stages to ensure that they meet the correct quality in regards to tooling, finishes, color etc…… what most do not realize is that this is done by a very niche few that are actually capable of performing this task.
You have to have a very discriminate eye for color, gloss and patternization, which a lot of people just don’t have, it cannot be trained, you either have it or you don’t. You also have to have deep knowledge of tooling, plastics, metals and all the post secondary processes that decorate these things. This part can be trained, but it takes years for someone to pick up all this knowledge in order for them to just be left alone to review any and all parts without any sort of external input.
The teams that perform these roles make million dollar decisions multiple times a day, decisions that either qualify or disqualify a vehicles ability to successfully launch.
Yet these individuals are barely even known about, let alone recognized by most of the people working around them in their own industry……… this is a crucial role.
