This week has seen big news coming from #SiliconValley this week as tech incubator Y Combinator updated its roster of promising startup sectors. The 20 categories it seeks to include its renowned accelerator program include #ClimateTech, #AI-powered #Robotics, #Space, and #Defence technology, some of our core markets. This offers real insight into trends within the wider #VC world and the technologies that are seen to make the biggest impact on our collective future. Highlights for us: 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵 – Achieving #NetZero emissions is imperative to avert catastrophic climate change. Legislative measures are poised to accelerate existing market trends. Notably, the recent Inflation Reduction Act allocates an estimated $800 billion in the US over a decade - 10x the investment that catalysed the growth of the US solar, battery, and electric vehicle industries in 2008. 𝗔𝗜-𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗥𝗼𝗯𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀 - Rapid advances in AI are enhancing the utility of robotics, particularly in industrial contexts. While robotics hasn’t yet experienced its “GPT moment,” rapid improvements in foundational models now enable the creation of robots with human-level perception and judgment. 𝗗𝗲𝗳𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 – Smaller defence firms are garnering increased investor attention due to their agility and adaptability compared to established primes. Given rapid technological advancements and global conflicts, continuous innovation is crucial for societal safety. 𝗦𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲 - The cost to reach orbit is falling fast, having fallen over 10x in the last 15 years. As we enter a future with space travel becoming increasingly accessible and routine, the possibilities that this unlocks are crazy. It's no secret that this aligns with our values to create a better future through technology and its great to see further alignment from the VC world. Picture the advances we have made in the last 10 years in these areas and just imagine where we will be 1, 5 or 10 years from now. #UnlockingHumanPotential

"Over the past decade, there has been an explosion of innovation in mobility. This progress has been propelled by more than $375 billion USD in Venture Capital funding for mobility startups since 2013. The sum of money is remarkable, but so is the growth of funding. Mobility has been one of the fastest growing tech segments across the Venture Capital landscape over the past decade— a strong indicator of the accelerating innovation dynamics driven forward by startups shaping the future of the moving world. The sector had its initial inflection point back in 2014 when shared mobility, mostly in the form of ride-hailing, started gaining greater traction, especially in the U.S. From 2016 on, mobility funding grew more holistically across a wider range of categories including micromobility, autonomous and electric vehicles, Advanced Air Mobility and last-mile cargo delivery. These forces created a vibrant ecosystem of thousand of startups shaping the future of the moving world." It was a part of "The Moving World Report". It is a fantastic Report and You can download it from "https://lnkd.in/ezdU2ttS".

IT'S #2023WRAP ! As #2023year draws to a close, I can't help but feel the memories that the year had brought us. It's been a crazy year of innovation, growth, and most importantly making memories! It was a year of awards, moments that stole our hearts! We won "The Most Promising #Drone #Tech #Startup of the Year" from The Times Of India , felt the warm hug of Shiprocket's Arambh award, and heard #WSRO say, "Drone Tech Startup Year Award". But it wasn't all sunshine and rainbows. We faced our fair share of storms too. Deals fell through, deadlines missed, and sometimes, tears blurred the path ahead. But in those moments, my team was my motivation who reminded me why we fly. It wasn't just about awards or profits; it was about painting the sky with possibilities and building a future where technology and wonder take flight together. As 2023 goes, lessons were learned and victories won but we may not have closed every deal, and solve every problem, but we tried and flew. We dared to dream big. #2024 stretches before us, a vast blue canvas waiting to be filled. We raise our glasses, a toast to the tears and cheers, and most importantly, to our loved ones that carry us forward. Because at insideFPV.com, the story of flight is just beginning. And I, for one, wouldn't trade the turbulences and triumphs for anything else. #insideFPV #dronelife #dronetechnology #droneindustry #newbeginnings

Gundam-like robot shows some of it’s functionality in a new video. Is this the terminator hand moment for robotics that inspires builders to create the killer bot? (pun intended) It’s not hard to imagine a robot like this in the mech-suit scene from Aliens or loading cargo on a dock or carrying a giant gun like the mech suits in Avatar. But it’s also not hard to imagine this loading cargo or transforming into a head-turning car or cleaning up radioactive material or acting as a lunar lander/explorer. While it may get funding from early adopters buying copies of it, one can imagine that will only spur new features and design for what could be a very useful and exciting robot format.
