Yesterday was Global #FattyLiverDay! At 89bio, we remain dedicated to advancing research and developing our innovative treatment for patients with #MASH, a severe form of fatty liver disease. It is important to continue raising awareness of this chronic, progressive disease which fat accumulates in the liver, ultimately leading to fibrosis (or scarring). MASH is often a silent disease with few or no symptoms, making it particularly dangerous as it can lead to more severe liver damage, including cirrhosis and liver cancer if left unchecked. Learn more about MASH, and why early screening is important from Global Liver Institute: https://lnkd.in/gSCgcPJh

#MASHAdventCalendar Day 1 🎄 🎅 Metabolic (dysfunction)-associated steatotic liver disease (#MASLD) affects a quarter of the global population. #MASH (steatohepatitis) is its most severe form and is characterized by a presence of liver fat, inflammation and ballooning, associated or not with liver fibrosis. Understanding the complexity of MASH, especially how it can lead to fibrosis progression, has become an essential requirement rather than a nice-to-have information. This understanding is key to efficiently combat serious liver-related events such as cirrhosis and liver cancer. https://lnkd.in/gGmEgSp

November is Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month, a time that brings awareness to a disease that, in 80% of cases, goes unnoticed until it becomes difficult to treat (Johns Hopkins Medicine). Due to late diagnoses, the five-year survival rate of this disease is 5-10%—but according to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, there are symptoms we can watch out for to lower our risk: Pain in the abdomen or back Weight loss Jaundice with or without itching Appetite loss Nausea Changes in stool Swelling of the pancreas Recent-onset diabetes Fatigue Weakness Depression By recognising these signs, we can work towards early detection and a higher chance of overcoming this silent threat. #MedixGlobal #PancreaticCancerAwarenessMonth #PancreaticCancer #EarlyDetection #EndPancreaticCancer
