AI is like the Borg from Star Trek. Resistance is Futile. 🤖 But more than that, it is a force and will be used for good and bad like every single tool humans have ever used. Tapping into the deep and rich cultural knowledge of the African continent’s oral traditions is one way to ensure that these thoughts, traditions, ways of thinking and ways of being are available and accessible. There is so much richness in thousands of ethnic groups and languages that create the diversity of the African continent and I’m personally excited to participate in this movement. For example, the world’s first human rights charter is the Manden Charter (https://lnkd.in/g4nxTDni) and has been passed down orally since the year 1235, but was only classified as such by UNESCO in 2009 and added to the list of intangible cultural heritage of humanity. I only learned about it last year. There is so much we don’t know and I’m excited that AI might help us “discover” more of these gems that have been eluding those of us not fortunate enough to speak the right languages. Thoughts?
