So, this is my dad. He has been in leadership roles in business for 40+ years. He is amazing and has been very supportive and helpful in my journey as a leader. I learn from him every time we talk. I only wish I had taken his wisdom and knowledge on board sooner! We have a standing meeting every week to discuss my business and what I need to do to keep moving the needle forward. I couldn't ask for a better mentor or for better accountability.

I've had a myriad of experiences and opportunities -- the most impactful, however, was writing my first book on the history of women's boxing. Tracing the stories, the accomplishments, the extraordinary efforts to practice a sport where the odds were always against the women who insisted that they had a place in the ring, gave me insights into the meaning of leadership and perseverance. Those lessons reverberate every day: patience, putting in the work and effort, having a clear plan, working in a team to lead from within, an insistence on equity, understanding strengths and weaknesses, adaptability, always paying it forward.

Abby Minihan I love that you have a standing meeting with your dad and that he is your support and inspiration!! I would say my parents too. My dad was the one with an unwavering confidence in my abilities - so I leaned on that confidence plenty of times and still do. My mom was the one that fueled the entrepreneur in me! I still think I need both sides.

For me, it was probably joining a business Mastermind. This completely changed my mind and the course of my life, since then, I am a big advocate of Masterminds!

Abby Minihan, it's great that you're encouraging reflection and sharing on what has made the greatest impact on our leadership learning journeys. For me, it has been a combination of experiences, both good and challenging, that have pushed me to grow and evolve as a leader.

Oh, so many learning curves in my life, from crappy bosses & toxic work enviroments to excellent mentors and collaborators. One thing I know for sure is that you never lose. You win some, or you learn some.

Abby Minihan for me, it has been a combination of multiple people and factors. I am on a continual path of personal growth, development, and learning. When I am open to life and being in the flow-I meet incredible people and have incredible adventures and my business expands.

This is so cool that you have that regular meeting with your dad. I am sure it has strengthened your relationship. I have been shaped and guided by so many people along the way. It feels like it took a village.
