Once upon a time I had an interview at a BigTech company. It went pretty well, I even managed to bullshit my way through the "how many load balancers can you fit into a Boeing 787" level of the game, so I got to the "cultural fit" part where the interviewer asked me "if you had a permission to get things right in your current company, what would you do?" That was where the interview fell apart to the point of both me and the interviewer beginning to doubt if we even belong to the same biological subspecies. I mean, sometimes I don't have time and resources at hand to get things right next month, fair enough. Also, sometimes there's a sweet juicy business opportunity to explore, so getting things right goes to the back burner until the calmer part of the year, sure thing. But, "permission"? I don't need no bloody permission to improve the technology and practices around me! I just do it, are you going to stop me, you corporate mussel?! So, my point is. If "I don't need no bloody permission to do great work" mentality resonates with you. And if you're thinking of starting the new year with a new job. It holds too many interpretations. 🌪 Revamp your hiring strategy with explicit roles: - Data Engineer - Data Operations - Software Engineer - Product Growth - Sales Operations With clarity comes understanding. Make your job titles crystal clear, and people will know exactly what they're signing up for.

Continuing my series to support the data science community, I'm excited to share my recent interview experience with PayPal. The HR team at PayPal was incredibly supportive, providing clear instructions and seamless coordination throughout the process. The interview consisted of five rounds, each lasting 1 hour: - SQL + Python/R Coding Round - Statistics - Marketing Case Study - Behavioral/HR (Hiring Manager) - Problem Solving and Fit Check (Leadership) In Round 1, after introducing my background, the agenda was discussed. I've also been receiving referral requests from Software Developers and am eager to assist aspirants in data roles. Moving forward, I plan to refer and guide aspirants through my posts, aiming to provide useful and generic information. Initially, I aim to help 10-15 profiles monthly post evaluations.
