🎉 Big news for battery electric vehicle manufacturing and job creation 🎉 Accelera by Cummins has been awarded a $75 million grant from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to transform 360,000 sq. ft. of our Columbus Engine Plant in Indiana for zero-emissions components and electric powertrain systems production! ⚡️🔋 We’re matching this grant for a total of $150 million to expand the production of battery packs, powertrain systems, and other battery electric vehicle components. This project will create around 250 new full-time jobs and offer our existing workforce exciting opportunities to transition into these innovative roles over time. 👷♀️👷♂️ A huge thank you to U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Under Secretary of Infrastructure David Crane and City of Columbus Mayor Mary Ferdon for joining us to celebrate this milestone. And most importantly, THANK YOU to our amazing employees who are making this vision a reality. 🙌 Here’s to a cleaner, greener future! #AccelerateTheShift DOE Manufacturing & Energy Supply Chains Office (MESC) Office of Infrastructure, U.S. Department of Energy
